My name is Vidi Jair and I am a young 29 year old farmer from Aosta Valley. I took this path five years ago when I decided to create my own work expectation: I wanted to be independent and I had in mind some projects that I see coming true with time.
Initially my agricultural activity was of viticultural vocation, having already some family vineyards worked by my father: I expanded the farm area by recovering uncultivated vineyards, abandoned for almost half a century. Today the farm’s production is diversified and a good part is dedicated to the cultivation of medicinal plants, including the famous Génépy, a mugwort that grows in our valleys.
Even when I was a boy, I liked to take long walks with my dad to look for these rare plants that always grew in the middle of the rocks, on almost inaccessible ridges, to make the famous Génépy liqueur , even if its strong, alcoholic flavor didn’t really fit me, at that early time. Perhaps it was precisely because this plant generated so much curiosity in me that I decided to try to grow it.
Thus was born, almost for fun, the Génépy des Jorasses, a liqueur with simple ingredients trying to keep the recipe that my father used when I was a child. The characteristic that distinguishes it can be summed up in three words: simplicity, quality and craftsmanship of the product.
