Combining the Italian words for “honey” (miele) and “delight” (delizia), we coined the name Mielizia, the brand representing the beekeepers of CONAPI, Consorzio Nazionale Apicoltori, (Italian National Consortium of Beekeepers).
Our cooperative was born in 1979 and for more than 40 years our beekeepers have been “nurturing biodiversity”. We now represent the biggest beekeeping cooperative not only in Italy, but also in the whole Europe. We are located in Monterenzio, in the province of Bologna, but the consortium represents numerous producers far and wide, both male and female, who share a passion for bees, the products they give us and nature. We are the Italian honey production chain, from territorial selection and production in the apiary through to packaging and marketing and sale of the end product. We manage more than 100.000 beehives, raising and protecting more than 5 billion bees.
Ours is a story of people united by their love for a job made up of tradition and research, respect for the environment and protection of biodiversity. We are at the forefront in the fight to protect bees, earth and the products we eat, from the use of harmful substances in agriculture.
Our way of thinking
CONAPI is a national cooperative enterprise among beekeepers member, whose identity is based on the valorization of members’ production, quality and organic farming. The direct relationship with the so-called “consumAttori” – consumers seen as protagonists in the relationship with the producers and active players in the purchasing process – and the deep roots in the territory are the distinctive features of our cooperative. They are put into practice through the continuous search of innovative ways to promote our honey and the other products from the beehive. We carry out this mission with the awareness that beekeeping today plays a key role in safeguarding biodiversity and is beneficial for the environment. Withour bees the planet would only survive for few years and the main part of the cultivations we use and eat would disappear.

Our beekeepers work in harmony with bees, creating just the right conditions to enable these wonderful insects to produce good, clean honey, pollen and other hive products. This is how Mielizia products begin life, before undergoing a series of meticulous tests and being packaged in jars using a gentle production process that respects the original organoleptic and nutritional properties, just as nature intended, so the end products have all the typical flavours and aromas of each area of origin that we thoroughly select.
Our honeys have a QR Code that allows everyone to discover more about their history and origin. Their regional origin can be found in the front label and we offer a huge variety of different kinds of honeys: form the classic wildflower and acacia, to the more typical chestnut, forest, orange blossom, tangerine, linden… We do not pasteurize our honey. It is only softened at a temperature of no more than 40°C, which is also the maximum temperature found inside the hive, to preserve the original flavor and aroma.
Not just honey
Apart from organic and conventional honeys, as many as there are flowers from different Italian territories, we also produce pollen, royal jelly and propolis. Using these products we have created a line of organic food supplements to give your body a natural support and the energy it needs.
Our honey, good in purity, has also become a precious ingredient to give a delicate and natural taste to the new line of organic shortbread biscuits (semi-whole wheat shortbread biscuits with chocolate drops, cocoa with chocolate drosp, wholegrain spelt with spelt flakes and shortbread biscuits with buckwheat and cranberries). With our honey we also produce icecream and extra jams (apricots, peaches, red fruits, blueberries and strawberries), made without thickeners, with a high fruit percentage, naturally sweetened and with regional indication on the label.
