ISIDE was founded in August 2013 thanks both to the passion of Simone for plants and to dedication of Mariagrazia for officinal herbs. Our company’s name is meant to be a tribute to Isis, who belongs to the group of great Mother Goddesses. She was the goddess of fertility and is known to have taught agriculture to women in ancient Egypt.

Our fields are our grandparents’ fields that got abandoned for many years. Therefore, we decided to give them back life in order to link our past to our future. Our present is the following: 75 acres of land in the towns of Pietradefusi (Avellino) and San Giorgio del Sannio (Benevento). Currently 25 ac are dedicated to aromatic/officinal herbs and the remaining part to traditional crops (with special attention paid to ancient cereal grains such as emmer wheat and spelt), olive trees, a small vineyard, vegetables, several fruit trees and woodlands.

We take care of the environment and our land, which is why Slow Food has awarded us the title of Custodians of Biodiversity in Irpinia territory. We farm using certified organic methods and we follow the principles of natural farming whose father was Masanobu Fukuoka. We are respectful of what nature can offer us and we don’t force the natural course of events even if it means losing some harvests.

This is why we have developed crop rotation plans in order to get high quality genuine products that are ethically sustainable. We harvest and select herbs by hand. We dry them naturally. We distil them slowly without adding chemicals and solvents. We take care of every detail of the production cycle in order to get essential oils, herbal teas and spices, which are all for food use.

Our products are analyzed by specialized university laboratories. They are natural and 100% organic, GMO free, without additives and chemicals. Quality and safety for our consumers are our priority. Our passion for officinal herbs encourages us to study, attend training courses, interact with specialists and research centers in order to improve our work performance and our products.

In addition to being members of Slow Food, we are part of the Italian Federation of Officinal Plants Producers (F.I.P.P.O) and we have been the first company in the Campania region to create a short supply chain (production, processing and distribution) specifically for officinal plants.

Our herbal teas
Our plants cultivated with organic method are harvested by hand and dried naturally. After being dried they are selected, cleaned and cut. Drinking herbal teas allows you to enjoy the benefits of officinal herbs. Herbal teas can be drunk hot or cold at anytime during the day depending on the disease that needs to be treated. To prepare the infusion add 1-2 teaspoons of herbal tea for each cup of boiling water. Let it steep covered for 5-10 minutes. After that, strain it and preferably sweeten it with honey.

Our flavours and spices
Our plants cultivated with organic method are harvested by hand and dried naturally. After being dried they are selected, cleaned and cut.

Our essential oils
Our officinal herbs are cultivated with certified organic method, do not undergo any type of treatment and are harvested by hand respecting the right time.
After that we use steam distillation of fresh or dried plants depending on the specie to extract essential oils. During this process, we firstly remove insects, material not suitable for distillation and weeds from plants before putting them in a distiller. The steam generated by boiling water passes through the plant material and makes the cell walls more permeable. This leads to their rupture and outflow of essence that gets vaporized. The mixture of water vapour and essence is condensed into a coil and then returns to the liquid state, splitting into essential oil and distilled water. The essential oil is collected and after appropriate chemical analysis  is packaged in 5 ml and 10 ml bottles.
Our essential oils are 100% pure, natural and made with Italian organic raw materials exclusively coming from our company. They are all for food use and do not contain additives. Therefore, we ensure the best quality and consumer safety.

How to use essential oils: For food (one drop to flavour 100 g / 100 ml of food /drink); for environment (10 drops in an aroma lamp to diffuse essential oil in your room); for cosmetics (15-20 drops in 50 ml of vegetable oil, cream, neutral shampoo or shower gel).

Warning: Essential oils must always be diluted. If they are swallowed seek medical advice. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Keep out of reach of children and away from heat. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medicine consult your doctor or pharmacist before using the product.
