Birrificio Castagnero Savant Ross

Birrificio Castagnero was born in 2014 as a farm. We grow barley, with which we produce our beer, and we have apple and pear plants, with which we produce cider.

We are inspired as types of beer by the Anglo-American world: hopped beers like Ipa and Apa, and classic style beers like Gold Ale, Brown Ale and Strong Ale (our basic line).

The link with our territory is represented by two beers: the CST – Chestnut Ale with Villar Focchiardo Brown Ale and Chestnut Honey – and our H-iga – Italian Grape Ale produced with grapes from Asti.

We experiment a lot, being one of the smallest breweries in Val Susa, we have fun using barrels and special refinements. Thus was born the Old River line, composed of 3 beers with aging in barrels once destined for wine, or with the addition of grapes such as Old River #3 and mixed fermentation with the addition of Brett.

One of the “last born” is the Total Eclipse, an Imperial Stout aged 9 months in Whisky barrels with the addition of blackberries, also present in the Guide to Beers of Italy as an unmissable beer.
