For a thousand years the Abbey has been a place of research, hospitality and meditation where food, wine, nature and culture come together. There is a long and rich history behind the wines, the flavors and the suggestions of Badia a Coltibuono.

A thousand years ago the Vallombrosan monks revolutionized agriculture and made Badia a Coltibuono into one of the cradles of Chianti and one of the first places where Sangioveto grapes where introduced.

Secularized by Napoleon in 1810, the Abbey was acquired by Michele Giuntini, ancestor of today’s owners. The Stucchi Prinetti family, inspired from the history and spirit of the monastery, transformed it into a modern center of food and wine culture as well as a place of sustainable practices.
