The Persico family is a historical family from Sorrento, always dedicated to agricultural work.
Already at the end of 1800 great-grandfather Antonino ran a small inn in Sant’Agata, while his son Salvatore wanted to broaden his horizons and emigrated to Argentina in search of fortune. Once returned to Italy together with his wife Angela and their children Candida and Antonino, he continued to dedicate himself to the farming and the marketing of citrus fruits. Antonino, who inherited his father’s passion, after many years of work in hotels in the area bought a historic farmhouse belonging to the noble Colonna family and in 2005 realized his dream, opening the agritourism Antico Casale together with his wife Luisa and their three children.
Today Nonna Luisa hands down the historical recipes of the Sorrentine tradition in a simple but up-to-date cuisine, using only the products of farm guided by Mario and his brothers. But the success is undoubtedly the welcome of the family that receives every single guest with the warmth of a smile.
Our company is developed along the three municipalities of the Sorrento peninsula for a perfect mixture of crops and microclimates that can always guarantee the best products. In Sorrento an ancient Sorrento garden gives us the best citrus fruits such as orange blond or lemon of Sorrento PGI; the adjacent town of Sant’Agnello offers an ideal land for the cultivation of fruit and vegetables and the territory of Piano di Sorrento, where the farmhouse is located, is rich in olive groves, bitter, an ancient vineyard and walnut trees. Like every self-respecting agritourism farm, there is no lack of animals: cattle, pigs, farmyard animals and rabbits that, bred exclusively with natural feedstuffs, always guarantee fresh meat of undoubted quality to our restaurant.
The meeting of the Agriturismo Antico Casale Colli di San Pietro with Slow Food takes place in December 2013 and since then the bond is stronger than ever. We actively participate in the initiatives of the Condotta Penisola Sorrentina and Capri, fully embracing the “slow philosophy” both in the agricultural and restaurant sectors by taking part in the Earth Markets initiative and the Cuochi dell’Alleanza project. What’s the aim? To guarantee a sincere product on our tables as the result of a work in perfect harmony and deep respect with the territory, and to safeguard traditional products.
We adhere to the Cuochi dell’Alleanza project, a network of chefs in the front line for the defense of food biodiversity all over the world, committed to using every day in their kitchens the products of small producers who are guardians of biodiversity. For this reason, we also use the products of the Presidia, the Ark of Taste, locally produced fruit and cheeses, and we are committed to report daily on our menu the names of our producers, in support and recognition of their work. We try to interpret in the best way possible the products of the territory, respecting their seasonality and the tradition…with a touch of innovation!
