On 10 February 2021, World Legume Day, Slow Food Germany invites you to an online tasting of delicacies made from local legumes as part of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto.
Recklessly branded as unsexy and old-fashioned, beans & co. often lead a marginalised existence in Western kitchens. They come from a distant time, some of them even from the Stone Age, and the modern speed intimidates them. But we know “still waters run deep”, and so their fascinating charm and impressive energy only reveal themselves to those who are more patient. Not only do they nourish people, but as “architects of healthy soils” they are of great importance for sustainable soil management and global food security. They have a small ecological footprint, increase carbon storage in the soil, bring their own nitrogen fertilizer and thus counteract climate change. They are an important source of nutrition for bees and bumblebees with their beautiful butterfly flowers.
Registered participants will receive seven selected specialties made from local legumes from Cecilia Antoni, Bohnikat.
On February 10th, 2021, you will be live at 7:00 pm and, under the guidance of Elisabeth Berlinghof, Legume expert, together with the producers, enjoy the evening with the legume products from the tasting box.
