The Voices from the Indigenous Communities: a call for water and biodiversity for food security webinar will be an exchange of IP-experiences (Indigenous Peoples Experiences) on the importance of rivers and their traditional management systems, including challenges.

The panel will include IP men and women and an environmental-lawyer to discuss water related policies and water rights as indicated in the Indigenous People’s Rights Act (IPRA). The webinar aims to:

  1. Recognize the role of indigenous communities in ensuring water security thru the sharing of customary practices in water management.
  2. Strengthen the role of indigenous communities in ensuring water security thru the sharing of different policies on water rights and the identification of recommendations on water security.
  3. Familiarize participants from academe, NGOs and youth on the importance of river and the different challenges faced by indigenous communities such as dams, pollution and extractives.
