The relay around the world continues in Africa and the Middle East, where the land and natural resources are often subject to violent expropriation and conflict, and lack of access to these resources generates misery and pain, denying the prospect of a dignified life to vast swathes of the population, and inevitably, causing mass migration.

This happens despite the fact that Africa is one of the richest continents in terms of natural resources and heritage, the largest continent in terms of cultivable land and the youngest continent in terms of the average age of its population. And its precisely this section of the population, the youth, who are hardest pushed to migrate elsewhere, to abandon their lands in search of work and the hope of a better life.

In this episode of the relay we confront one of the great questions of our age: what pushes people from Africa and the Middle East to abandon their homeland, to look elsewhere for sustenance? What are the causes and what are the possible solutions to this continuous demographic hemorrhage?
