There are things we can all do to approach the question of food in a healthier way. Julieta Monet shows us how to recognize and appreciate our food through five simple actions, and how an individual effort to eat better can bring about real collective change.

In Argentina and elsewhere, the “wrong” approach to food begins in childhood. We often see children who don’t have access to quality food, whether because often they’re eating unhealthy products, led astray by the food system. But inverting these trends can be relatively simple, if we teach them five simple actions to become more aware of what they’re eating. If we can communicate the importance that we have as consumers and the importance of choosing good, clean and fair food, then we won’t just eat better, but we’ll contribute to the well-being of the planet and access to food across the world.

And, no less importantly, these five actions are fun! Because eating should be fun too. We should proud of what we eat, and eager to share it.

Julieta Monet is an English teacher in Argentina. She’s worked with children and adolescents throughout her professional life and has been inspired by them, too. She’s an activist fighting for food sovereignty in her country and her life mission is to teach both children and adults that they can change society through food; real food, delicious food.

The Food Talks are a new and freely accessible format of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto: ten minutes for our guests to explore their thoughts on the world we live in, and the future we want for it.
