Beekeeping training with school students

Okun Owa, Nigeria

Event local time

October 13th at 08:00 in your time zone

Free event

The event is a training program meant to train junior school students in secondary beekeeping management.

The area is known for bee hunting, where people go into the forest and set fire on bees colonies to harvest the honey. In the process they kill the bees, cut down trees and destroy the ecosystem. The training aims to stop this by teaching students how to make a bee house with local materials. A Beekeeper of Bees Abroad, a UK-based NGO, will also participate in the event to make sure that students have really grasp the idea of the need of managing bees to harvest honey, instead of using fire to destroy their colonies.

The event is limited exclusively to the students of the Okun Owa Multilateral Grammar School and their parents. Event organized by Ijebu-Ode Beekeepers and Bees Abroad.
